Titans score first, but can't hang on in 2-1 loss to Chemeketa

Eugene —The Titans scored first, but the Storm answered a few minutes later and then scored the winning goal early in the 2nd half.

How it happened: The first goal of the game came in the 5th minute when Riley Kilpatrick sent a cross-field pass to Callum Speed, and Speed controlled and shot from just outside the box and scored just inside the right post and cross-bar. A defensive lapse three minutes later gave Oscar Rosas an opportunity after the Storm gained possession in their half of the field. The Storm had a man advantage on the breakaway and Rosas got a one-on-one opportunity and his shot stayed on the ground and found the back corner of the net. The 1-1 line held until the 57th minute when Oscar Rosas scored again, this time off of a two-man game with Jose Herrera. The Titans were on the attack for the majority of the game but were unable to get find many dangerous opportunities after early brilliance from Speed and Kilpatrick.

What it means: The Titans needed a win and a Portland loss vs Rogue to make it into the playoffs as the 3rd seed, but with the loss and the Portland 4-0 win, the Titans finish 4th. Their 6-6-3 overall record is an improvement over last year's 5-9-0.
