Women's Basketball Recruit Kylie Guelsdorf, a Oregon City multi-sport standout, caps career with 12 varsity letters

06/14/2018 10:53

Oregon City High School's Kylie Guelsdorf is leaving an indelible mark on the Pioneers' athletic program as one of the few multi-sport athletes to earn 12 varsity letters over the course of her prep career.

Guelsdorf was recognized for her outstanding achievement in cross country, girls' basketball, and track and field, and is believed to be the first Oregon City female athlete since Taylor Belmont in 2010 to graduate with 12 varsity letters.

She recently accepted an offer to play junior college basketball next season at Lane Community College in Eugene.

Guelsdorf played a key role in helping lead Oregon City's girls' cross country teams to berth in the OSAA Class 6A state championships each of the past four seasons.

She peaked as a sophomore when she posted a personal best time of 19 minutes, 30.4 seconds over Oregon City's 5,000-meter home course and placed sixth overall in leading the Pioneers to the 2015 Mt. Hood Conference district championship.

In basketball, Guelsdorf was part of program that compiled a four-year record of 83-25 and won Mt. Hood Conference titles in 2015, 2016, and 2018. The teams she played on also went 8-5 during the post-season, including an appearance in the 2017 championship final in which the Pioneers lost 45-27 to top-ranked Southridge.

Guelsdorf capped her track and field senior season by qualifying for the OSAA 6A state championships in two events -- the long jump and the 4x100 relay on a team with Lily Bartel, Kylei Halbakken, and Kiera O'Malley.

At the May 9 Mt. Hood Conference Championships at Gresham High School, Guelsdorf placed fifth in the long jump with a personal best mark of 16 feet, 11 1/2 inches, while helping lead the Pioneers' short relay to a third-place finish in a season-best 49.95 seconds. She also placed sixth in the pole vault with a personal best of 10-2, and ran a leg on the 4x400 relay that finished fourth in 4:14.52.
