COOS BAY — Chris Vitus tossed a five-hitter to lead Lane Community College to a 5-3 baseball win over Southwestern Oregon Community College in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday.
Corey Staniforth was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI for Lane, which broke a 3-3 tie with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Southwestern Oregon won the nightcap 4-3 when Jared Fritz hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lane led 3-0 before SWOCC scored runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Andrew Schumacher was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Lane.
