Track & Field has some big performances at Oregon Twilight

EUGENE, OR - In the last real tune-up before the Championship season, the Titan Track & Field squad competed at Hayward Field on Saturday evening.  With cool temps and some slight wind, several athletes bettered their NWAACC qualifying marks with season best and/or PRs.  Gylany Crossman (pictured) had the most significant performance running 9:48.73 to break the rarely contested Women's 3k school record run in 1977 by Debbie Roth (9:49.80).  Branden Helms also had some big performances running 10.79 to win his section of the 100m, as well as running 21.78 to finish third in the 200m, and helping the Titan 4x100 to a time of 41.89 to finish second behind the UO.  Joseph Hart bettered his mark in the Triple Jump by getting out to 44' 7.5" (13.60m).  Danny Parks also had a big mark in the discus to finish fifth (153' 7" - 46.82m).  Allie Church ran a season best 25.33 in the 200 to finish sixth.  Kaimi Zablan heaved a big PR in the shot put (40' 0.5" - 12.20m).  See link for more results from the Oregon Twilight.

The team now enters into the Championship part of the season with Southern Regionals on Saturday, 5/12 hosted by Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, OR.  Field events are scheduled to start at 10:30am, with running events starting at noon.  The NWAACC Championships will be Monday-Tuesday (5/21-22) in Spokane Community College.
