Lane Community College improved its playoff chances in the Northwest Athletic Association for Community Colleges with a 2-2 tie in women’s soccer against Clackamas on Wednesday.

The Titans, now 2-4-3 in the South Region, picked up a point to break a tie for third place with Clark College behind the goalkeeping of backup Hope Gunther, who had seven saves.

Lane led fourth-ranked Clackamas twice, on Alyssa Vera’s goal in the 33rd minute for a 1-0 advantage and on Stephanie Pepperling’s go-ahead score in the 73rd minute.

But the Cougars, who have won three of the last five NWAACC titles, forged the tie on Gabby Nevell’s goal in the 88th minute.
