Titan Track & Field sets the tone on Day 1 of NWAACC Championships

SPOKANE FALLS, WA - With some mild temps, slight wind, and unexpected lack of rain, Lane had some standout performances the NWAACC Championships on Day 1.  Gylany Crossman started the day off with a strategic 10k winning in a huge PR of 38:09 to defend her title.  Jacob Berkner earned All-American status in the Men's 10k by finishing a gutsy third, with Michael Maisonville just 2 seconds back.  Erik Jorgensen led a 1-3-4-5 showing in the Men's Pole Vault, while Tara Carlton won the women's Pole Vault leading the 1-2T-2T-5 finish for the Lane women.  Danny Parks had a heave of 48.27m (158' 4.39") to earn All-American status by placing third in the Discus.  Joseph Hart (pictured) went from third to first to win the Long Jump by 1cm on his final attempt jumping 7.10m (23' 3.5").  Shay Applegate moved into second on her final attempt in the Women's Long Jump with a jump of 5.25m (17' 2.69").  Kaimi Zablan got a toss of 11.77m (38' 7.38") to place second in the Women's Shot Put.  Barry McLaren jumped 1.54m (5' 0.62") to lead a 2-4 finish in the Women's High Jump.  Kayla Johnson snuck into sixth in the women's Javelin throwing 35.38m (116' 0.91") giving the women a leading point total of 75 over Spokane with 67.  The men also picked up seven points in the Hammer to have a day one total of 84.5 points, putting them in second behind Spokane with 97.5. Day 2 events are scheduled to start at 10am on Tuesday.
