Shepherd leads LCC baseball team to 6-3 win

Kevin Shepherd went 4-for-5 and drove in two runs to lead Lane Community College to a 6-3 victory over South Division leader Mount Hood in the opening game of an NWAACC baseball doubleheader on Thursday.

Mount Hood won the second game 8-2.

In the opener, the Titans (23-19, 13-11 South Division) managed 16 hits. Alex Williams was 3-for-3, Jake Van Cleave was 2-for-4 and scored two runs and John Miles with 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Lane's Sean O'Connor struck out five over 62?3 innings to earn the victory. Corey Davis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for Mount Hood.

In the second game, Taylor Ard went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run for the Saints. John Miles and Andrew Goodpaster had two hits apiece for Lane.
