Peck swings big bat in Lane sweep

OREGON CITY — Sophomore outfielder Quinn Peck had a huge day at the plate, going 7-for-9 with 10 RBIs to lead the Lane Community College baseball team to a doubleheader sweep at Clackamas on Saturday.

The Titans moved into a tie with Chemeketa for first place in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Southern Region. Lane has two division games left — a doubleheader at home against Linn-Benton on Thursday. The first game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.

Peck went 4-for-5 with four RBIs as the Titans won the opener 9-8. He then went 3-for-4 with six RBIs in a 10-7 victory in Game 2.

Chris Reed struck out nine to earn the opening-game victory for Lane. Matt Myrmo was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and catcher Joe Offer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Ran Berger went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Tyler Conner was 2-for-2 with four runs as Reed Nicholson went six innings to earn the victory.
