NWAACC Multi Event Championships under way

EUGENE, OR - Lane and the other teams of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges officially started the Championship season by kicking off  the NWAACC Championship Meet as Lane hosted the Decathlon and Heptathlon that started Monday, 4/30.  The rest of the Championship meet will be May 21-22 in Spokane, WA.  After Day 1 and five events in the books, Spokane sophomore Mitch Kamstra leads the Decathlon with 3328.  Two Lane athletes are currently in a not-too-distant second (Davide Formolo-3267) and third (Thomas Cranor-3266).  Kamstra had the leading marks in 3 of the events, while Formolo (pictured) and Cranor had the first and second fastest times in the 400m.  Day 2 events for the Decathlon will start @ 9am on Tuesday, 5/1.

Defending champion, Spokane sophomore Shayle Dezellem, currently leads the women's Heptathlon after 4 events with 2526 points.  Freshman Shay Applegate is currently in third with 2337, and sophomore Barry McLaren currently sits in seventh with 2155 points.  The competition is pretty solid with several individual event winners staying in the mix.  Day 2 of the Heptathlon has the long jump, javelin, and 800 left with a scheduled start time of 10am.  Check the links below for more results.
