Martin wins men’s race, NCU wins team title

GERVAIS — Lane’s Michael Martin won the men’s race, and Andy Muhaa and Moises Martinez also earned top-10 finishes, and Northwest Christian won the men’s team title at the George Fox Wes Cook Cross Country Classic on Saturday at Willamette Mission State Park.

Martin covered the 8,000-meter course in 24 minutes, 27.2 seconds. Muha was sixth in 25:20.1 and Martinez was seventh in 25:20.6. But NCU won the team title with 61 points, beating out the Titans, who scored 74. The Oregon Club team was third with 91.

TJ Wright led the Beacons with a 14th-place finish (25:54.2), followed by Jacob Truitt (26:00.2) in 15th.

In the women’s race, NCU’s Anika Rasubala finished sixth in 18:35.5 over the 5,000-meter course, and the Beacons finished second in the team race with 55 points. Corban won the team title with 27 points, and Sophia Noto, running unattached, won the individual race in 18:14.4.
