Lane men win at Saint Martin’s meet

LACEY, Wash. — The Lane men’s cross country team placed its five scoring runners in the top 25 Saturday to win the Saint Martin’s Invitational.

The Titans scored 67 points to edge Western Washington, which had 76 points, for the team title. Spokane was a distant third with 95 points.

Lane’s Michael Martin was second individually in the 8,000-meter race, finishing in 26 minutes, 1.7 seconds. Clark’s Sam Garvin won in 26:00.4.

Lane’s Moises Martinez was 12th and Ben Harter was 13th.

Seattle Pacific easily won the women’s team race with 22 points to 62 for runner-up Western Washington. Lane was sixth with 192 points.

Saint Martin’s Shannon Porter was the individual women’s winner, covering the 5,000-meter course in 17:50.1.

Lane’s top women’s finisher was Lexi Healy, who was 23td in 20:03.9.

Earlier in the week, Martin was named the Northwest Athletic Conference athlete of the week, placing as the top non-Division I competitor at the Bill Dellinger Invitational where he placed 15th in the 8,000-meter race.
